Section 2 - CATTLE

(NOTE: Rule 20 applies all the way through except where stated.)

JUDGING COMMENCES AT 11.00 a.m. SHARP!!!

Unless animals are entered in the Catalogue and on a signed entry form they will not be allowed in the Show

Important notice to Animal Owners who are involved in Showing their animals regarding Insurance.

The Irish Shows Association would advise all Animal owners who have their Animals Insured to have the Insurance cover extended to cover them while showing animals at Shows. We understand that it cost very little or nothing at all depending on who you have Insurance cover with.

If you are one of the few who don’t have cover we would advise that you think about putting it in place for this purpose it may be well worthwhile.

The reason for us giving this advice is to protect yourself in the event of your animal lashing out and injuring someone or damaging someone’s property, if that were to happen and it is established that your animal was out of your control you may be held responsible, or partly responsible for any injury or damage caused and end up paying all or part of any settlement reached
All Numbers must be attached to animals before Judging; if not No Prize Money will be awarded.

Shows and Sales 2008 Information for Exhibitors

The testing requirements laid down for Shows and Sales are intended to protect the health of your animals at the Show.
You can take further steps to ensure that your animals are not exposed to any disease risk by:
- moving animals directly from farm to show site;
- disinfecting the vehicle used to transport your animals before loading;
- insisting that all steps necessary to protect your animals are taken by the Show Committee.
- You should contact your local D.V.O. as soon as you decide to exhibit at any show. This will ensure that all required documentation is in order before the date of the show.

T.B. and Brucellosis Status: All animals must come from herds that are not restricted and have had a clear herd test within the previous twelve months. Animals over 6 weeks of age must have a T.B. test within 12 calendar months of the date of the show and/or sale. Brucellosis test for females and bulls, over 12 months, within the previous 30 days. In addition for bulls aged 12 months and over and females aged 18 months and over, the blood test must have been carried out in the herd from which they are been moved.

All animals must bear an approved ear tag and be accompanied by an identity card or birth certificate.

Warble Fly: Exhibitors should obtain details of the precise requirements from their local District Veterinary Office.

Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (B.S.E.): The Commission of the European Community prohibits the export from the U.K. to other Member States of all bovine animals. Movement of Cattle to and from Show must be recorded on CMMS 4 Forms Available from DVO and Show Office before Show.

Complete Sections 1.2, (a) and 3(a) of the CMMS 4 pass the form, completed as above, to the Show Secretary for completion of Sections 2 (b) and 3(b). It is the responsibility of the show society to forward the form to the Movement Notification Agency.

Record movements both out of and into your herd in your Bovine Herd Register. For outward movements enter “Ownership Retained” in the ‘Remarks’ column (column 9) of the Register.

Handlers must display all numbers on arm before Judging commences. If not, No Prize Money will be awarded.
