CLASS 305 - ICA Competition

Virginia Agricultural Show Society Presents ICA Guild “Skills of the Year” Competition
Kindly Sponsored by Mc EVOY’S ‘EUROSPAR’, Virginia

Theme: “Celebrating 100 years of ICA”

This year we invite you to Present a “The ICA has been a huge asset to Irish Women over the past 100 years and has great potential for the future”

1. Research – With reference to the above statement, research the history of the ICA in Ireland with particular reference to your own guild. As part of your research, present a visual displa. This display can be used as the backdrop. Max 4’ x 2’ 20

2 Design an Mail Drop flyer advertising the ICA and encouraging new members to join. This can be handwritten, typed, painted or any medium of your choice.

3. Art –Design and make a card to mark the centenary celebrations.

4 Craft – Design and make one keepsake (craft based) to mark the ICA’s 100th Anniversary. This keepsake should be suitable for mass production with a view to it been sold for a charitable cause

5 Display – Each Team will have an area 4ft x 2ft to co-ordinate their display.

No additional accessories to be used only those items made for competition,
All entry forms to be signed by Guild Secretary as being the work of the guild.
The judge’s decision is Final.

Prizes: 1st €200; 2nd, €100; 3rd, €70; 4th, €50; 5th, €40; 6th, €40.

Awards will be presented for the winning item in each individual section, independent of overall result.

Closing Date June 21st

BREAD AND CAKES

CLASS 306 - Qualifier

THE IRISH ASSOCIATION & TULLAMOR SHOW SOCIETY PRESENT

The Odlums All Ireland Home Cooking Championship

Sponsored by: Odlums

Rules and Conditions:

1. Each competitor will bake 4 items using Odlums Products
(a) High Fibre Bread (baked in 900g/2lb Loaf Tin)
(b) Battenberg Cake
(c) 6 Savoury Muffins (using your own creativity)
(d) Jam Filled Swiss Roll
2. The items should be displayed on a base, not more than24”x24” accompanied with an empty bag of the Odlums product used in the recipe.
3. Points will be awarded for taste, texture and presentation which should be simple.
4. The completion is confined to amateurs both male and female with one entry only per exhibitor at the final.
5. The items must be fresh and baked by the exhibitor.
6. A special class will be held at each qualifying show. The winner from each of these shows will go forward to the final to be held at Tullamore Show on Sunday 8th August 2010.
7. All items will be cut and/or sampled at the Final.
8. Each of the successful qualifiers will receive a hamper containing Odlums products, on appearance at the final.
9. The judge’s decision at all stages of competition is Final.
10. Exhibits displayed at owners risk
11. These rules should be read in conjunction with the Irish Shows Association Rules.

Please note: At the final, exhibits must be in place by 10.30am and may not be removed before 5.30pm. Marquee opens from 8.30am.

A special prize will be presented to the exhibitor who obtains the highest number of points in classes 307-332. Points to count: 1st Prize, 5 points; 2nd Prize, 3 points; 3rd Prize, 1 point. No points in any class for which entries are received from less than 3 separate competitors. All exhibits to be produced by the Exhibitor.
