Virginia Show new Date 31st July 2010
Virginia Show date has changed and the 69th Annual Show takes place on Saturday 31st July which is the Saturday of the August Bank Holiday weekend with many new events.
The main events are as follows:
Baileys All-Ireland Champion Dairy Cow, this competition has €8000 in prize money and is sponsored by baileys and Glanbia,
Liffey Meats €2000 Champion Beef Bullock,
Gunne Carnaross Mart €2000 Champion weanlings,
Glanbia Ingredients Champion Friesian in-calf Heifer,
Francie Brady Charolais Champion of the Show
Lakeland Dairies Champion of the Show,
North Eastern Simmental Championship.
As well as many classes for horses, a new feature is the Fleetwood Hunt Chase which will take place in the evening
Supervalu ICA Guild Skills of the Year celebrating 100 years of ICA, there will be a great opportunity to view the history of the ICA and meet members as well as members of many other voluntary organisations under the umbrella of the Community Forum. Traditional skills such as brown bread making, knitting, sewing will be among the many demonstrations.
In the Main Hall the Home Industries never fail the wow factor and one can only admire the standard set there. LEADER hope to have a Food and Crafts Hall will display the talents and skills of people in the Cavan Monaghan area. There will a Country Fair as well as Gig Rig with Martin O Donoghue from the Fleadh 2010. Local Business & Business Trade Stands will add to the business atmosphere at Virginia Show where there will be many bargain offers.
Virginia Show takes place along the shores of Lough Ramor and this year there will be Canoeing as well as a new competition for fishermen/women. There will be children's entertainment, as well as an animal farm. You can try your ability at the WII competition or discuss your level on FarmVille at the Macra stand.

Show Dance.The Show Dance will be held back in the Grounds with Brendan Bowyer, his daughter, Aisling Bowyer and their band reliving the heydays of 70's with the now infamous "Hucklebuck". This will be the first opportunity to dance in the Virginia College Hall which is built on the exact site of the old Farmers Hall. Tickets are available from the office.
